Annika Hoseth

Hello! My name is Annika Hoseth I am an LA-based musical theatre writer with a deep love for stories that hold space for life’s messiness while incorporating humor and leaving the audience with a sense of hope. I have a subtle and character-based way of addressing important social issues such as women’s rights, so I can often reach viewers who might be turned away by a more preachy tone. Whether it’s a musical about people from all walks of life navigating the first year of the pandemic (It Just Takes Time) or a story about cocktail waitresses grappling with the line between objectification and sexual liberation in 1968 (Kittens), I write to illuminate how tender, funny, and complicated it is to be human.
I graduated from Pomona College in 2023 with a degree in music and a passion for collaborative creation. There, I wrote, composed, directed, and produced my first two full-length original musicals, learning how to juggle all facets of production while developing a clear, specific voice. Since graduating, I’ve immersed myself in the Los Angeles theatre scene: stage managing world premiere plays, interning at a record label, and workshopping my own musicals. In the past year alone, my musical, It Just Takes Time, had a staged reading with ELATE and was featured in a concert with the Foundation for New American Musicals, and Kittens premiered at the Hollywood Fringe Festival—receiving an Artist Fund grant, a Stage Takes Top Ten mention, and a nomination for Best Musicals & Operas.
